Now, I know it’s three months away, but I’m really excited about this … Jane Franklin Dance will perform preview segments of their 2010-2011 season featuring the part of their upcoming performance, “The Mouse of Amherst” exclusively at the Ballston A&C Market on October 9th!

This performance is especially for children by the dancers of Jane Franklin Dance. Mark your calendars, folks! This is completely family friendly (and fun!).

For no particular reason I got the idea to make ninja cupcake toppers. Siders? There was no birthday, no party to attend, no potluck, it was purely just because. And let me add, one great thing about having a blog is it gives me the excuse to make just about anything without question, case in point:

Me: Jason(my husband), I’m going to make some ninjas popping out of cupcakes.

Jason: *Look of confusion*

Me: It’s for the blog.

Jason: Oh, okay.

See, all I have to say is “it’s for the blog” and somehow it magically makes sense. Now, if I could somehow transfer that effect to buying shoes, I’d really be on to something.

Okay, back to the cupcake ninja toppers/siders. I started to think why should the tops of the cupcakes get all the love, how about the sides? The sides could have something jetting out of them and then it hit me, Ninjas!

Right click, copy, save, paste and print. You might need to scale the size of them. Once printed, cut out, tape to toothpicks and have fun. For the ninjas on top, make sure the printed part does not touch the frosting. You don’t want ink running into the frosting.

There is a wonderful quilting club in town – Heirloom Quilters. One of my neighbors is in the group, a fellow bus driver and also Peter, a friend we’ve had for years. Peter just started quilting and is doing a quilt for each of his boys.

The oldest son has this quilt. The top is exactly like the bottom, but the quilts are so long they had to fold them over to get them to hang in the space.

The youngest son is getting this one. Yes they are eggs, one for each month of the year. The one that is for June has his son’s year of high school graduation on it – 2016. Isn’t that just the neatest quilt?

The middle son’s will be done this year :)

The quilters group made a quilt to cover a car for in the parade. Isn’t that amazing? Wonder how long it took to make it?

This was our favorite. We loved the colors and the design.

Yes it’s black and white. There was a whole section of black and white quilts, in all sizes, but this was my favorite.

Here are some other quilts from the show:

Stay tuned for the last installment of the Sunflower Festival – The Gallery in the Park. Posted on Friday.

Hello Everyone~

Hope you are having a wonderful week so far!  CHA has been awesome…got a migraine at the end of day one so that hasn’t been the greatest…hoping the headache goes away REAL fast!  This week at WOJ Challenge Blog Donalda has put together a very fun challenge!  This week is to FUZZ your projects!  This can be felt, flower soft, flock, anything fuzzy!

For my card I have used this new cutie from the Summer Store Stamp Kit.  I absolutely love this cutie!  I paired her up with some Cosmo Cricket DeLovely papers.  The edge of my papers have been stickalized with star dust stickles.

Of course the image of this bathing beauty and the starfish were colored with Copics.  I’ve tried coloring her with darker “skin” colors to make it look like she got a tan.  Then, I’ve used Silver Spica on her sunglasses and then coated the lenses with diamond glaze for a more realistic “sunglass” look.  For my Fuzz I have added ultra fine flower soft in sand to parts of the beach, and then I took white flock and created some white puffy clouds in my airbrushed sky.  The beach scene was created with my Copic ABS.

Flower are from the famous, Wild Orchid Crafts.  This first arrangement uses the Daffodils and 6mm closed rosebuds.

The bottom arrangement was made with 35mm Large 2-colored Wild Rose, another Daffodil, and some 15mm yellow roses that I took my Copic ABS and airbrushed to match the large wild rose being 2 colors.

Finally here is another view so that you can see the “fuzz” on my project better.

Our challenge this week at Whiff of Joy challenge is Fuzz.  Now when I first saw the theme my lil old heart thunked right down to my boots, but I really did enjoy making this card and after seeing the creations done by the rest of the DT I’m guessing they did too. The paper is from the new Christmas digi kits from Bearly Mine Designs.  I love the icy blue colour that I got after fiddling with

Last week I posted about my altered Starbucks VIA box and how I turned it into a zine holder. I received so many emails asking for a zine tutorial, that I put one together!

I like BUSY, I like to make all kinds of layers on my work, as if you haven’t noticed. But if you want simple, just take the idea and adapt it to your own style.

I made one mini-zine focused on my novel, each page has a quote for a different character, with the book info on back. The second one has inspiring quotes! I included other ideas in the video as well.

I used colored pencils, Crafty Chica® Mojito Papers™ and Aleene’s® Acid-Free Tacky Glue™ Glue Sticks.

Enjoy!

P.S. Check out my new novel!

(shyly pressed in my hand by my youngest)

It’s a big rush for a teacher when a student starts to write of their own accord and not because they have to practice. And especially when the teacher loves the sweet little stinker student to death. (heart clenching) Yep, passing notes is definitely allowed here at the Holland Academy for Young Ladies.

This is my desk at the iLoveToCreate design studio when I’m not there. This contest will run for 48 hours. I’ll post the winner the week of August 2nd, 2010.

Winner receives a copy of the crafty mystery novel: Photo, Snap, Shot (A Kiki Lowenstein Scrap-N-Craft Mystery) by Joanna Campbell Slan. I’ve read it, it a riot – really good, juicy, funny and clever!
